/ Royals
The highest vineyards in the zone have a southwest exposure. In the north they are protected by the “stone of Fanis”, while the sea air cools the area. Soil deep, shale red, with a surface layer of limestone rocks. Main variety Krasato. Xinomavro, Stavroto and several Rhodites and Kolokthas complete the vineyards. Altitude at the highest point 583 meters.
According to the testimony of elderly winegrowers, it is the best area of the zone.
/ Combs
They are immediately lower than the royals, with the same exposure, but even more sheltered and warm. Soil deep, shale and very fertile. The main variety is wine, followed by Xinomavro and a small amount of Ampelakiotiko. Altitude at the highest point 500 meters.
/ Turtura
On the Olympia ridge of Tempe is the area of Turtura. North exposure with northwest and northeast slopes. The area is quite cool in summer. Slate soil. The main variety is Xinomavro, Ampelakiotiko, followed by Krasato and scattered local white varieties. Altitude at the highest point 450 meters. In the lower vineyards the soil is enriched by the forest humus and becomes particularly fertile and productive.
/ Prosilia
The Prosilia climb the steep northern slope of Tempe. With exposure to the south (foreshore) and the sea air being difficult to reach, it is the warmest area of the zone. Slate soil. Xinomavro is the main variety. Krasato and Ampelakiotiko complement the plantings. Roditis and Savvatiano are present in a very small percentage. Altitude at the highest point 450 meters.
/ Agia Paraskevi
Overlooking the top of Kissavos and facing south, this area has the steepest slopes. Fairly hot area with the sea air being present all the time. Deep shale soil. Xinomavro is the main variety, followed by Krasato, Ampelakiotiko and the Rhodites of the region. Altitude at the highest point 510 meters.
/ Capsule
The largest vineyard in the zone. The gentle slope of the soil favors mechanical cultivation. Eastern exhibition. The north winds and the sea air cool the area quite a bit. The soil is diverse, from light limestone to heavy clay. Xinomavro is the main variety. The other varieties, white and red, participate in the plantings in a very small percentage. Altitude at the highest point 200 meters.
